Job Description

Are you a seasoned Maintenance professional with a knack for troubleshooting and a strong mechanical aptitude? If you're looking for a role where your skills will be valued, and you can contribute to the smooth operation of a dynamic facility, we want to hear from you!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Respond to work orders and perform general mechanical tasks, including electrical, plumbing, heating, appliance repairs, groundskeeping, and snow and ice removal.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and routine engineering checks in mechanical and boiler rooms.
  • Prepare vacant apartments for new tenants.
  • Perform unit inspections with Service Teams to ensure building/unit integrity, safety, and compliance.
  • Maintain an inventory management system for all equipment and tools.
  • Responsible for pest control inspections and follow-up treatments.
  • Be available to respond during evening, weekend, and holiday emergencies.
  • Report accidents, injuries, or safety concerns to the Director of Facilities/Executive Director and complete incident reports immediately.
  • May rotate as building mechanic across other 2Life buildings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • At least five years of hands-on experience; post-secondary technical training preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, elevator systems, and high-rise building systems.
  • Hoisting License required.
  • Comfortable working with older adults aged approximately 62 to 102 years.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequently lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly stand, walk, stoop, kneel, climb, and perform physical tasks requiring full use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Work outdoors in winter conditions.
