Job summary

Pilgrim's Europe is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead the engineering function at our Kings Lynn site, driving asset performance, reliability and a proactive maintenance culture.

You will develop a high‑performing team, implement planned maintenance through SAP, manage budgets and KPI reporting, and collaborate with Production, Planning and Technical teams to meet site objectives.

Qualifications

• HNC in Mechanical, Electrical or related field.
• 2+ years in a management or supervisory engineering role.
• Strong knowledge of planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
• Understanding of permits to work, safe systems of work and HSE requirements.
• Experience managing maintenance budgets and resources.
• Proven people management, coaching and mentoring skills.
• Ability to drive continuous improvement and operations performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a multi-skilled engineering team.
• Drive site performance through uptime, efficiency and asset reliability.
• Manage budgets, labour costs and KPIs for the engineering function.
• Ensure effective preventative maintenance programmes are delivered via SAP.
• Support CI initiatives to reduce downtime and improve performance.
• Oversee projects, contractor management and compliance activities.
• Maintain audit-ready standards for safety, hygiene, quality and engineering compliance.
• Develop succession plans and train/mentor the team.
• Collaborate with Production, Planning and Technical teams to achieve site targets.
• Keep maintenance records, SOPs and risk assessments current.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Maintenance Manager, you will lead and develop the engineering team, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost‑effective operation of all site equipment and facilities. Working closely with the Site Engineering Manager, you will help drive the transition from reactive maintenance to a planned, improvement‑focused culture.

Key Responsibilities Include

Essential

• HNC qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical or a related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a management or supervisory engineering role.
• Strong knowledge of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) systems.
• Understanding of engineering compliance, permits to work, safe systems of work and HSE requirements.
• Experience managing maintenance budgets and engineering resources.
• Strong people management, coaching and mentoring skills.
• Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and operational performance.

Desirable

• Experience working within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
• Knowledge of SAP maintenance management systems.
• Experience implementing asset care and reliability improvement programmes.
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
