Pioneer Selection Ltd is recruiting for a Leicester-based manufacturing site seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance team while remaining hands-on to fault-find and support breakdowns.

The role focuses on driving reliability, preventative maintenance and continuous improvement to maximise site uptime, while promoting health and safety and collaborating with Production to boost overall performance.

Qualifications

  • Leadership or management experience in engineering/maintenance.
  • Multi-skilled engineering background with electrical and mechanical experience.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification minimum.
  • Hands-on approach; not office-based.
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop the engineering and maintenance team.
  • Oversee planned preventative, reactive and breakdown maintenance.
  • Remain hands-on to support electrical and mechanical fault-finding.
  • Drive engineering standards, reliability and continuous improvement.
  • Minimise production downtime through effective maintenance.
  • Collaborate with Production to improve site performance.

Are you an experienced Maintenance Manager or Engineering Team Leader looking for your next challenge?

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join a highly automated, fast-paced manufacturing site in Leicester.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to lead from the front. You will manage and develop the engineering team while remaining hands‑on technically, supporting with fault‑finding, breakdowns and maintenance when required.

The site has a strong focus on engineering reliability, continuous improvement and maximising production uptime, making this an ideal role for someone who wants to make a genuine impact.

The Role

As Maintenance Manager, you will:

  • Lead, manage and develop the engineering and maintenance team.
  • Oversee planned preventative, reactive and breakdown maintenance.
  • Remain hands‑on and support engineers with electrical and mechanical fault‑finding.
  • Drive engineering standards, reliability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure production downtime is kept to a minimum.
  • Manage engineering priorities and maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with Production to improve site performance.
  • Promote a strong health & safety culture across the engineering function.
Non‑Negotiable Requirements

You MUST have:

  • Previous leadership or management experience within an engineering/maintenance environment.
  • A multi‑skilled engineering background, with both electrical and mechanical experience.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification as a minimum.
  • A genuinely hands‑on approach — this is not a purely office‑based management position.
  • Previous experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
The Ideal Candidate

You may currently be working as a:

  • Maintenance Manager
  • Engineering Manager
  • Engineering Supervisor
  • Engineering Team Leader
  • Senior Maintenance Engineer

Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing or high‑volume manufacturing would be highly advantageous.

PLC fault‑finding, PPM, continuous improvement and reliability experience would also be beneficial.
