As we grow, were looking for a talented and motivated Maintenance Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and delivering a wide range of maintenance, repairs, and site support tasks to ensure all facilities, machinery, and infrastructure operate efficiently and safely.

Maintenance Manager - Key Responsibilities and Tasks
This role exists to ensure the smooth and safe operation of all site machinery, equipment, and infrastructure within a large and fast-paced manufacturing facility. The Maintenance Manager provides a responsive and proactive service, managing a wide variety of planned and reactive maintenance tasks to support continuous production and site operations.
The role demands a flexible, hands-on approach to meet the daily challenges of a complex and demanding environment.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the role also holds a strong alignment with the on-site Health and Safety function, supporting and enforcing safe systems of work in line with relevant legislation and best practice. The Maintenance Manager plays a key role in reducing downtime, increasing asset longevity, and supporting compliance with standards such as ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Maintenance Management
Develop and maintain the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule.
Ensure preventative and corrective maintenance tasks are planned, completed, and recorded.
Audit and maintain compliance with maintenance and engineering data systems.
Schedule internal and external maintenance work to minimise disruption.
Troubleshoot breakdowns and work closely with shift teams to support machine availability.
Ensure buildings, plant, and infrastructure remain fit for purpose, taking proactive steps when issues arise.
Support the specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning of new equipment.
Manage the safe and lawful disposal of obsolete machinery or plant.
Compliance and Risk
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations.
Conduct and maintain risk assessments for relevant tasks and equipment.
Supervise contractors on site, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
Keep up to date with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Maintenance Manager - Performance Monitoring
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to maintenance, including downtime, meantime between failures, and work completion rates.
Record completed maintenance work in accordance with company systems and reporting protocols.
Participate in root cause analysis and support corrective action implementation.
Budget and Cost Control
Provide input to maintenance budgeting and monitor maintenance-related expenditure.
Manage material usage and supplier coordination for maintenance-related purchases.
Collaboration and Communication
Attend and contribute to internal meetings and communicate relevant updates and actions.
Liaise with other departments, suppliers, and service providers to ensure smooth operation.
Provide technical support across departments when required.
Continuous Improvement
Identify areas for process and efficiency improvements within the maintenance function.
Support implementation of lean and modern maintenance principles.
Stay informed on developments that may impact the maintenance function or materials supply.
Maintenance Manager Person Specification / Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience in a senior Maintenance role within a retail interior, manufacturing, or shopfitting environment.
Excellent technical fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
Strong organisational and follow-up abilities.
Confident communicator with solid written and verbal communication skills.
Competent in problem-solving, planning, and decision-making.
Familiar with maintenance performance metrics and compliance standards.
Maintenance Manager Qualifications & Experience
Completed a recognised apprenticeship (mechanical, electrical, or electronic discipline).
HND, BTEC Level 5, or equivalent in an engineering-related discipline preferred.
Extensive experience in plant and site maintenance environments.
Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, lean practices, and equipment lifecycle.
Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as ISO 14001, TS16949, and IOSH/NEBOSH.
