Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee a large, 24/7 heavy manufacturing maintenance function. You will integrate mechanical, electrical, automation, planning and shift maintenance to deliver a cohesive, high‑reliability operation.

As a senior leader, you will structure the maintenance program, ensure resources are aligned, and drive continuous improvement while keeping production informed and safe on site.

Qualifications

• Ability to balance reactive, preventive and predictive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily delivery of the maintenance plan.
• Improve balance between breakdown response and planned maintenance.
• Drive root cause analysis to reduce repeat failures.
• Improve MTTR, MTBF, planned maintenance compliance and equipment reliability.
• Ensure maintenance schedules are realistic, resourced and completed.
• Improve shift handovers and communication between engineering and production.
• Develop supervisors, engineers and apprentices.
• Make better use of CMMS information and maintenance history.
• Manage contractors, critical spares and external suppliers.
• Support plant through major breakdowns, outages and incidents.
• Maintain strong safety, compliance and engineering standards.

As Maintenance Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day performance of a large maintenance function within a complex 24/7 heavy manufacturing environment.

There are experienced engineers, strong technical knowledge and people who care about keeping the plant running.

What the business now needs is a Maintenance Manager who can bring greater structure to the operation and turn maintenance plans into action.

You will work across mechanical, electrical, automation, shift maintenance and planning, making sure priorities are clear, resources are used properly and the work that has been agreed actually gets completed.

This is not a role where you will manage from a spreadsheet.

As Maintenance Manager, you will need to understand what is happening across the plant.

Why has the same piece of equipment failed again?

Why has planned maintenance been pushed back?

Are the right people and parts available to complete the job?

What is preventing the supervisors and engineers from delivering?

What needs escalating, and what can be resolved by the team? You will work closely with Operations and the wider engineering leadership team to agree daily and weekly priorities, improve equipment availability and create a stronger balance between reactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance.

As Maintenance Manager, you will make sure Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Planning and Shift Maintenance operate as one joined-up function.

• Supporting the plant through major breakdowns, outages and critical incidents.
• Maintaining strong safety, compliance and engineering standards.

You will also be joining at an important point for this established business. A number of experienced engineers are approaching retirement, while the business is looking to develop more apprentices and less experienced engineers.

The challenge is making sure that knowledge does not leave the business when people retire. As Maintenance Manager, you will help capture that experience, create stronger ways of working and develop the people who will support the plant in the future.

You will already have managed maintenance teams within heavy manufacturing, metals, foundry, casting, rolling, steel, aluminium, process manufacturing or another demanding 24/7 environment.

You may currently be working as a Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager, Maintenance Engineering Manager or senior engineering leader who is ready to take responsibility for a larger and more complex function.

You will understand mechanical and electrical systems, automation and controls, maintenance planning and equipment reliability. More importantly, you will understand the reality of supporting live production.

Plans change. Breakdowns happen. Priorities compete.

Your job as Maintenance Manager will be to bring calm, structure and clear decisions when the pressure is on.

You will know when to challenge, when to listen and when to bring Maintenance and Operations together to agree what matters most.

Because strong maintenance performance is not created through KPIs alone.

It comes from clear expectations, good planning, consistent leadership and people who understand what they are responsible for.

It will not be the everyday expectation, but it is an honest part of taking operational responsibility for a plant of this scale.
