Role: Maintenance Manager - Multipack

Site: Kraft-Heinz Kitt Green, Wigan, UK

Working Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

Purpose and Responsibility of role:

We're looking for a dynamic leader to take lead on optimising our on-site asset performance and driving operational excellence. As Maintenance Manager, you’ll be responsible for enhancing equipment utilisation, delivering high volumes with the best quality, and collaborating closely with our functional leads and senior leaders to get the most out of available resources. If you’re passionate about health, safety, and food quality, this is the perfect opportunity to put those values into action!

You’ll take the lead in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), ensuring swift resolutions to get equipment back online as well as actively seeking cost-effective ways to improve site assets. With a proactive approach, you'll inspire your team to minimise on downtime and keep the manufacturing process running smoothly. You’ll be working hand-in-hand with the Operations Manager for your area, developing team members through targeted training and mentorship, empowering them to take ownership of equipment, processes, and systems. Key responsibilities:
  • Direct responsibility for engineering craft and Engineering Asset Technicians (mechanical and electrical).
  • Dedication to health and safety, including 2-way communication, safety discussions, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of site hazards, ensuring team competence and compliance with safety standards.
  • Responsible for food safety, product quality, and raising any issues.
  • Leadership during emergencies and unforeseen situations.
  • Efficient allocation and deployment of engineering resources, including collaboration with other centres.
  • Implementation of Engineering improvement across assets, including detailed review and change control.
  • Drive site reliability agenda, identify failure modes, perform root cause analysis, and deliver maintenance objectives.
  • Support site projects and change initiatives as the need arises.
What you'll have
  • Ability to lead multiple engineering activities concurrently and ensure successful completion.
  • Strong technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and automation tasks for informed decision-making.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and dedication with a focus on getting it right the first time.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, both oral and written, to facilitate clear understanding at all levels.
  • Skill in engaging and empowering teams during change programs.
  • Proficiency in continuous improvement tools (e.g., PDCA, Ishikawa, 5W1H) and problem-solving techniques.
  • Experience with CMMS systems, ideally SAP, and capital investment programs for reliability improvements.
  • Financial capability to support budget development and improvement implementation.
  • Strong planning and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in digital literacy, including Microsoft Office.
More about you
  • Time Served Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer with a minimum NVQ3 or equivalent - ideally with a coaching and leadership background.
  • Experience operating in a manufacturing environment. FMCG is would be a nice to have but not essential - we are open to all manufacturing backgrounds including petrochemical, pharma, automotive - it's the individual and the leadership capabilities that matter.
