About the role

Royal Mail has an exciting opportunity for a new Engineering Team Coach to join the Bristol Mail Centre team on the Late Shift.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of engineers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of automated machines, hardware, and software both on and off site.
  • Collaborating with the Shift Manager, team, and machine operators to identify risks and resolve faults promptly.
  • Carrying out regular maintenance in line with operational needs.
  • Providing support to the Maintenance Team Leader and regional maintenance management.
  • Gathering data for shift reports, fault logging, root cause analysis, and contributing to engineering reports.
  • Providing leadership, coaching, and support across all shift aspects, including handovers.
  • Conducting performance reviews and arranging training and coaching.
  • Ensuring teams meet and exceed OEE targets, KPIs, and efficiency measures while adhering to health and safety guidelines.

Shift Hours: Late Shift Monday to Friday 14:00 to 22:00

About You

We seek an experienced electro-mechanical engineer with excellent organizational skills, resilience, and stakeholder management abilities. You should possess strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, capable of coaching and developing team members.

The role requires practical experience in electrical and mechanical disciplines. A recognized qualification in electro-mechanical engineering (minimum ONC level or equivalent) is preferred, along with registration with a recognized engineering institute and EC registration or willingness to obtain it. Knowledge of IET wiring regulations and electrical testing qualifications (C&G 2391 & 2392) are advantageous but not essential.

Please note: If currently employed, your previous Engineering T&C's will apply (either EC2 or NML T&Cs).

Desirable Criteria
  • Time-served Engineering apprenticeship
  • Engineering electrical qualification to HCN level or equivalent
