Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced maintenance joiner to join the Team in Head Office, working for the Argento Group (includes Argento retail, Angus Properties and Let's Go Hydro).

Further information:

Job Title: Maintenance Joiner

Location: Various – role will involve travelling to our stores across the UK & Ireland and the wider Argento Group, including Let’s Go Hydro and Angus Properties.

Contract: Permanent,42.5-hour contract (including breaks), typical working week will be Monday – Friday, however overtime may be required to work evenings and weekends, including travel (for store refits / maintenance works in Scotland / England)

Reporting to: Maintenance Manager

Salary: £Competitive (DOE)

Job Summary

Coming from a varied background in terms of maintenance works, experience within the retail sector, working on retail shop fit outs will be advantageous. You will be responsible for preventative and reactive maintenance works in our stores across Northern Ireland, England, Scotland & Ireland and also assist with snagging and carrying out repairs and appropriate maintenance works for Angus Properties and Let’s Go Hydro as part of the wider Argento Group.

Main Responsibilities

  • Involved in carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance all Argento Stores across the UK and Ireland, and also within the Argento Group
  • Working to a set schedule in order to complete the jobs within timeframe and budget
  • Ensure all maintenance work carried out meets all H&S standards
  • Checking the maintenance report and ensuring priorities are completed, and records are maintained
  • Following safe systems of work, including risk assessments and method statements and assist with permits to work
  • Awareness and responsibility of health and safety, attending mandatory training to ensure compliance with all appropriate legislative requirements
  • Ensuring the organisation of materials to carry out the repairs; keeping work area, storage and vans tidy; keeping list of spares and reordering
  • General maintenance - to assist with the upkeep of the Argento Group: including repairs, painting, decorating, wall and floor tiling and grouting, minor plumbing.
  • Assisting in shop fit outs including snagging and repairs, ensuring stores have a high quality finish and are maintained to a high standard.
  • Detailed joinery - assembling display cabinets, replacing and fixing cabinets, trims, architraves etc
  • Report all faulty appliances/installations that do not comply with current regulations
  • Liaise with Area Managers / Store Managers when arranging to carry out work, having full regard for the store’s needs.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required

Essential Criteria:

  • Time served joiner, 1st and 2nd fix, with experience of general joinery and maintenance works including shop fit outs
  • Good knowledge of other trades, including maintenance, joinery, painting & decorating, plumbing, tiling and shop fitting
  • Experience in planned and reactive maintenance projects
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements relevant to a maintenance role
  • Own tools, and ability to use tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Must be prepared to work at heights using ladders, scaffolding and work in confined spaces and in a variety of work conditions that may prevail at that time
  • Full clean driving licence and access to vehicle
  • Valid CSR Card
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Flexibility to work additional hours, including evening and weekends, and on occasion away from home, including store fit outs / maintenance repairs throughout the stores in NI, ROI, England and Scotland

  • The ability to manage your time working on multiple projects and to carry out all jobs efficiently and to a high standard ensuring a high-quality finish
  • Ability to work to deadlines under pressure; highly organised with great attention to detail
  • Satisfactory levels of fitness to carry out duties and tasks
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, enthusiastic, positive attitude

Desirable Criteria:

  • Maintenance works within the retail sector, working on retail shop fit outs will be advantageous
