Job description

Overview

We are supporting our Chesterfield-based Manufacturing client with the recruitment of a Mechanical Fitter to join their experienced maintenance team.

You should be a driven, ambitious engineer seeking your next role in a fast paced, heavy industrial environment with a focus on personal and professional development.

Ideally you will be a time served apprentice trained individual holding at least an NVQ level 3 qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the maintenance team in a fast paced, heavy industrial environment.
• Apply mechanical fitting skills to service and maintain pumps, rotating machinery and bearings (experience mandatory).
• Contribute to planned maintenance and engineering activities during regular shutdowns (12 hour shifts once every 5 weeks).
• Respond to callouts as part of a rota (breakdown or urgent maintenance) with on-call arrangements once every 5 weeks.
• Collaborate with other engineers to ensure reliability and performance of plant equipment.

Qualifications

• Time served/apprentice trained with at least NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline.
• Experience with pumps, rotating machinery and bearings is mandatory.
• Experience with steam boilers and pressure systems is highly advantageous.

Compensation and Terms

The rate is £18.10 per hour or £35,298.88 annually. In addition, there is a callout retainer (£#removed# p/a) paid in monthly installments as the operation runs on regular day shifts (7am to 3pm) with 1 week in 5 on call. Total basic package before overtime is £39,643.36 per annum. Overtime is paid at time and a half (Mon-Sat) and double time on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Regular planned maintenance shuts are expected, with a 12-hour shift to support engineering activities, occurring once every 5 weeks.
