Overview

Partnership Recruiting is seeking experienced Maintenance Fitters on behalf of a well-established manufacturing client in East Lothian. We’re looking for hands-on professionals with a strong mechanical background, proven fault-finding ability, and a proactive approach to maintenance in a high-output environment. The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified fitter with experience in heavy industry, capable of working independently on shift and contributing to a collaborative, safety-focused maintenance team. Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to reduce downtime and support production continuity.
  • Diagnose faults, repair and replace defective mechanical components.
  • Record maintenance activities accurately using internal IT systems.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and support overhauls during scheduled downtime periods.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and maintenance team meetings.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety procedures, including work permits.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to support business objectives.
  • Engage in special engineering projects or upgrades as required.
Candidate Profile
  • Fully qualified mechanical fitter (relevant certification essential).
  • Experience working in a heavy mechanical or industrial environment is required.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality work.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Comfortable using maintenance-related IT systems and tools.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and safety-conscious.
