Supports the development and systematic deployment of the Corporate Mining Technical Standards and Safety Guidelines. This role aims to define maintenance strategies, policies and guidelines for the all the mines of ArcelorMittal. The absolute focus of this role is to reduce the risks inherent to operational & maintenance activities across the Group by applying a strong Process Safety Management system.
The function includes to standardize the maintenance processes across all mining units and to continuously seek for innovations and best industry practices.
Acting as the second layer of assurance in the Mining Governance Structure, the job holder will participate in benchmarking activities and will be involved in all aspects of strategic maintenance projects; from planning to execution stages. He or She will ensure that the technical corporate standards are optimally implemented across ArcelorMittal mining operations and will measure their compliance level against the standards.
Finally, this role includes giving support to the unit’s management teams by providing guidance, technical expertise, providing training and sharing knowledge through community of practices.
Responsibilities
The job holder:
- Encourages, fosters and leads by example on Health & Safety and Environmental aspects as Group number 1 priority.
- Supports the mining operations in ensuring that safe maintenance practices are carried out in line with Corporate Process Safety and Technical Standards, Guidelines and Policies.
- Seeks for innovative solutions to increase safety and minimise risks, to comply with applicable regulations and to optimize maintenance practices of the mining units.
- Implements a Process Safety Management program supporting maintenance and operational activities.
- Delivers a Maintenance Framework, strategies, policies and guidelines for the mining group.
- Assesses the gaps or deviations between the company standards and operative procedures at the different mining sites.
- Organizes internal peer reviews/ external assessments for ArcelorMittal mining assets in accordance with the Company’s governance requirements.
- Shares maintenance best practices leveraging internal and external networks and promotes exchange of knowledge within the group through communities of practices.
- Acts as Subject Matter Expert for capital requests related to maintenance activities.
- Supports the implementation of appropriate software solutions and technologies to enhance, modernize and standardize maintenance practices within the mining operations.
- Promotes high performance culture and build open, genuine and sustainable relationships with all stakeholders, in accordance with the vision and in the best interest of the Company.

Profile of job holder
- Bachelor of a Science degree in fields of Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in Engineering (experience in project engineering and project management, from design to construction and execution).
- PSM training or certification
- Ability to implement and drive safe working practices.
- Strong PSM (Process Safety Management) experience.
- Extended experience in mining operations with both mobile and fix equipment.
- Strong understanding of mining best industry practices and ability to transform the knowledge into a structured process of improvement through standardization and collaboration.
- Knowledgeable in continuous improvement methodologies, assets and maintenance planning.
- Experience in commissioning and start-up of new equipment.
- Track record of successful innovations and safety initiatives.
- Experience in diverse, inclusive and dynamic work environments.
