Job Description

Our Maintenance Manager will provide leadership and expertise to our UK&I Service Centres and support our plant-based maintenance teams with standards, KPIs, and our maintenance system. You’ll develop the team, delivering improvements in Safety, Quality, Cost, and Best Practice Maintenance.

CHEP is the largest pallet pooler in the UK. Our pallets are used throughout our customers' supply chains, collected from end users and brought back to our plants for repair and respray. Our plants operate various automated conveyor and chain systems with pneumatics and hydraulics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the highest safety standards at each service centre, providing oversight in machinery safety.
  • Audit sites for safe operation of equipment.
  • Meet all legislative requirements related to engineering and site services.
  • Follow electrical and mechanical standards.
  • Capture improvements to standards through change requests.
  • Guide and lead maintenance strategies and standards across service centres.
  • Deploy and maintain CMMS system across regional service centres.
  • Coordinate maintenance strategies with other regional and European TSMs.
  • Manage critical spares through efficient parts management.
  • Work with the Training Manager to meet technical training requirements.
  • Provide Electrical Duty Holder support across all plants.
  • Ensure service contracts are fulfilled across sites.
  • Develop a central technical reference library.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Professional Engineering Qualification (HNC or Degree level).
  • Machinery Safety Qualification (Machinery Safety Expert or C&G).
  • Engineering Maintenance – NVQ 3 or above.
  • Ideally, a NEBOSH certificate.
  • Experience in engineering management within manufacturing or process industries.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • CBM experience.
  • Biomass experience (advantageous).
Additional Requirements
  • PLC/control professional qualification.
  • 5-7 years of work experience.
  • Hybrid remote work arrangement.
