A recruitment agency is seeking a Static-Based Mechanical & Electrical Engineer for a distribution centre in Basildon, UK. The role involves maintenance support for electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Job Purpose:
To provide proactive, professional and reliable maintenance support on all fixed Electrical and Mechanical plant at our distribution centre. This is a static, site-based role, ideal for an electrically-biased engineer, although this is not essential.

Main Responsibilities:
• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across all on-site plant and utilities
• Diagnose and rectify faults across building services (electrical, mechanical, HVAC)
• Record and maintain logs, schedules, and documentation to comply with H&S, company and insurance requirements
• Ensure critical spare parts are available and stock is monitored
• Complete minor repairs and installations to minimise disruption to operations
• Assist with installation of new plant or modifications
• Carry out basic office equipment troubleshooting when required
• Supervise sub-contractors on site including conducting inductions
• Provide professional client liaison and escalate concerns as appropriate
• Ensure full compliance with all statutory and internal standards

Additional Responsibilities:
• Maintain technical documentation for plant and equipment
• Conduct regular H&S checks and inspections, addressing issues promptly
• Report unsafe practices or conditions and propose improvements
• Communicate process changes and ensure training is arranged where needed
• Report all major issues, breakdowns and delays to management in a timely manner

Key Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
• Electrical or Mechanical qualification (electrical bias preferred but not essential)
• Ideally time-served apprenticeship or equivalent training
• 18th Edition or equivalent (desirable)
• C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing (beneficial)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in M&E maintenance
• HVAC or Mechanical Engineering knowledge beneficial
• Flexible and willing to undertake additional training
• Good computer literacy
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Proactive, professional attitude with a strong sense of ownership and pride in work
