JR262: Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical)

Location: Stockport

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum

Overview:

First Military Recruitment is currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer on behalf of our client. Our client welcomes applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform safe, efficient maintenance on various process equipment modern and legacy systems covering mechanical and electrical tasks.
  2. Complete all scheduled PPM and reactive maintenance tasks on time and to a high standard, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  3. Accurately log maintenance activities, manage inventory for spares and consumables, and coordinate reordering as necessary.
  4. Follow strict risk assessments, Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and permits to ensure all activities are conducted safely.
  5. Monitor and ensure the safe operation of equipment, promptly reporting failures and necessary repairs to the Engineering Manager.
  6. Adjust work patterns in line with production needs to support the smooth operation of our manufacturing lines.
  7. Assist in the management and upkeep of site facilities, supporting broader operational needs.
  8. Comply with Health and Safety regulations and contribute to maintaining a safe workplace.

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Completed apprenticeship or equivalent with 4-6 years in production/manufacturing, ideally within FMCG.
  2. Recognized qualifications in electrical and mechanical engineering (BTec, C&G, HNC, NVQ L3 or equivalent).
  3. Ideally 60/40 or 70/30 mechanical/electrical bias, with experience in equipment including rotating systems, pumps, heaters, cooling systems, reactors, and high-speed filling/packaging lines.
  4. Familiar with HASAWA, PUWER, LOLER, and PSSR regulations.
  5. Strong communicator who can work independently, drive continuous improvement, and support the team in achieving operational excellence.
