Working Hours

5 on / 5 off rotating shift pattern

Alternating between days and nights:

  • Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Your Role as Maintenance Engineer

Join a dynamic engineering team where you'll handle mechanical and electrical maintenance across automated equipment—from processing to packaging. Reporting to the Engineering Shift Leader, you’ll tackle breakdowns, lead routine maintenance, and support continuous improvement, all while working rotating shifts to keep the factory running smoothly and safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Engineering Shift Leader as part of the on-site engineering team
  • Provide effective and efficient mechanical and electrical support across the factory
  • Take responsibility for personal health & safety, as well as that of colleagues and the working environment
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and provide reactive maintenance support to minimise downtime
  • Carry out planned maintenance tasks and support continuous improvement projects through the maintenance system
  • Work with a wide range of complex, automated equipment used in primary processing, cutting, and packaging operations

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • City & Guilds or BTEC Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within an FMCG or fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated contribution to building and maintaining a high-performing engineering team.
  • Strong initiative and the ability to effectively prioritise tasks under pressure.
  • Quick and logical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong observational abilities.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork.

Mandatory (Training will be provided):

  • Level 2 Food Safety
  • Level 2 Health & Safety
  • Environmental Awareness
  • COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
  • Manual Handling

Desirable Qualifications & Skills

  • Completion of a multi-skilled engineering apprenticeship
  • Health & Safety certification at IOSH or NEBOSH level
  • Previous engineering experience within a poultry processing or similar food manufacturing environment
