Job summary

Brioche Pasquier UK is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for our Milton Keynes facility. You will maintain and optimise manufacturing equipment, work with production teams to ensure lines run safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The role requires strong hands-on mechanical skills, fault finding, and an ability to analyse data to drive improvements. A flexible Continental shift pattern and full training on site are provided.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, engineering tools, and production processes.
  • Attentive to detail with the ability to present root cause of an issue to drive solutions.
  • Articulate in verbal and written communication appropriate to your audience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Adaptable to different types of manufacturing IT systems.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards is an advantage, but internal training will be provided.
  • An IPAF and forklift licence, as well as some electrical knowledge would be an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be given to the right person.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-Production Phase: participate in planning, construction, commissioning and testing of machinery for a new production line.
  • Follow safety policies and work with contractors and engineers for line readiness.
  • Carry out testing of mechanical parts and fault-finding during tests.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support operation during testing phase.
  • Production Phase: carry out fault-finding and maintenance to support production.
  • Analyse data and collaborate to drive improvements and reduce waste while ensuring product quality.
  • Assist in staff training on new equipment and processes.
  • Provide clear communication across shifts on maintenance topics.
  • Record work in the in-house system and track spare parts.
  • Maintain high health, safety and hygiene standards.
  • Support other lines with maintenance coverage.

Salary

Between £39.5k £48k per annum inclusive of night shift allowance of £2,132 per annum. Potential for growth as training progresses.

Hours

Full time. Continental shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, rotating between 06:00 to 18:00 / 18:00 to 06:00. Small variations may occur within the continental shift.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Engineer in our production facility, you will play a crucial role in the maintenance and optimisation of our manufacturing equipment and processes. You will work directly with the production team to ensure that our production lines operate efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Production Phase (if assigned to new production line):

  • Participate in the planning, construction, commissioning and testing of machinery prior to production for our new production line.
  • Follow detailed construction plans and safety policies, working with contractors, Brioche Pasquier Group & International and with specialist production line Engineers visiting from other sites.
  • Carry out testing of mainly mechanical parts of the production line before, during and after test production exercises.
  • Carry out machinery fault-finding and troubleshooting processes, alongside any scheduled maintenance tasks and services to support the proper functioning of our operation during the testing phase.

Production Operational Phase (all production lines):

  • Carry out machinery fault-finding and troubleshooting processes, alongside scheduled maintenance tasks and services to support the proper functioning of our operation.
  • Analyse production data and collaborate with key stakeholders to recommend evidence-based improvements aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce waste, whilst maintaining product quality.
  • Assist in the training of staff on new equipment and processes.
  • Provide simple and transparent communication to opposite shifts about any ongoing maintenance topics.
  • Use the in-house system to accurately record any work performed and track spare parts.
  • Work to high standards of health and safety, food safety and hygiene.
  • Support other production lines with maintenance engineer cover when required.
