Maintenance Engineer (Commercial Gas)

My renewable energy client is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer (Commercial Gas) reporting to their Lead Commercial Engineer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering operation and maintenance services across my client's fleet of heat networks. They are looking for someone who has a valid commercial gas certificate, with experience servicing and repairing commercial boiler equipment. Experience maintaining and operating commercial non-gas plant, e.g., pumps, valves, strainers, would be beneficial. The role will be varied, undertaking mechanical PPMs, reactive call outs, planned repairs and project work, to further improve reliability and network efficiency across the fleet of networks they operate.

Your role will also involve, but not be limited to:

  1. Working under the direct supervision of my client's Lead Commercial Engineer
  2. Completion of planned preventative maintenance activities in line with company maintenance schedules (commercial gas boilers, pumps, actuators, plate heat exchangers, pressurisation units, degassers)
  3. Repair and reinstatement of commercial plant (as per above)
  4. Completion of fault finding and repairs to commercial gas boilers and other equipment including pumps and pipework
  5. Attend reactive call-outs to sites to reinstate heat and resolve plant failures
  6. Take part in an on-call rota and attend callouts (typically 1 week in 4)
  7. Review root causes for plant failure (resolve operational issues which arise)
  8. Management of site-based project work and development of the scope of works for plant remediation.
  9. Safe isolation of equipment before commencing works
  10. Good communication with the team always
  11. Ensure maintenance system records are kept up to date to ensure accurate and secure records. This will involve the completion of clear and concise online work orders.

You should demonstrate the following:

  1. 1+ years of experience working as a Commercial Gas Engineer or in a similar capacity
  2. Commercial gas registration, Testing & Purging Training Course (TPCP1) & Gas Booster (BMP1) required
  3. NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical Engineering or similar qualification
  4. Experience with maintenance and repairs on commercial gas boilers by manufacturers such as: Hoval, Hamworthy, Ideal, Buderus, etc.
  5. Operational knowledge of commercial gas boilers is required.
  6. Knowledge of heat network energy centres and plantrooms, or comparable systems is desirable.
  7. Able to read technical drawings e.g., P&IDs & mechanical schematics.
  8. Electrical competency (basic).
  9. Competent with safe isolation (mechanical and electrical).
  10. Full UK driving license (valid for at least 12 months)
  11. Full UK working rights
