Job summary

LyondellBasell Warrington is seeking an experienced maintenance technician to maintain and repair plant equipment to OEM standards and ensure production plans. You will work across electrical and mechanical disciplines, prioritising safety and reliability in a 12-hour shift rotation.

Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, ordering parts, logging work, and supporting continuous improvement projects. The role offers a competitive salary and benefits with a pension and bonus program.

Qualifications

Electrical or mechanical apprenticeship completed.
NVQ level 3 Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (HNC or above desirable).
Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar plant and equipment.
Experience in electrical and mechanical fitting; 18th Edition desirable.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair plant, equipment and assets to OEM standards.
Ensure plant availability per production plan.
Support safety, PTW and contractor management on site.
Diagnose faults and identify root causes; escalate when needed.
Plan and prioritise workloads to meet KPI targets.
Support continuous improvement and capex projects.
Mentor apprentices and develop the engineering team.
Maintain logs and shift handovers; ensure timely parts delivery.

As a shift worker you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the plant, equipment and assets of Lyondellbasell Warrington to OEM standards and to ensure that plant is available as required by the production plan and that plant and infrastructure is maintained in accordance to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Maintaining safety standards and complying with all relevant rules and regulations. Contributing actively to the provision of a safe working environment for all associates on site. Carrying out Continuous Improvement of plant and utilities by planned preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance work. Maintaining a clean, organized, lean and effective maintenance workshop and stores.

A Day in the Life

Work in a safe manner complying with all LYB OE standards, rules and HSE regulations.
Contributing actively to the provision of a safe working environment for all associates on site including maintenance and improvement projects and supporting PTW and contactor control.
Responsible for maintenance and repair to the plant, infrastructure, equipment and assets of Lyondellbasell Warrington to OEM standards and to ensure that plant is available as required by the production plan.
Provide technical advice in troubleshooting and problem solving situations.
Work with minimal supervision. Attending breakdowns promptly and efficiently. Diagnosing faults and their root cause. Escalating any issues that cannot be resolved to the Maintenance Manager and to provide necessary feedback and support regarding failures and repairs, recommend improvements that are required to increase equipment reliability and safety.
Plan/prioritize workloads to support production goals by achieve the departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
Continuous improvement of plant utilization including routine planned preventative maintenance and improvement projects, participating in capex projects to support the Maintenance Manager.
To assist in the developing the skill level in the team including apprentices, to support the effectiveness of the engineering team.
Maintaining a clean, organized, lean and effective maintenance workshop and stores.
Work to high standards of housekeeping during repairs, maintenance and all other duties.
Identify and order any parts needed to carry out maintenance or project work. Liaise with the Maintenance Assistant to ensure they meet delivery dates and or times.
Ensure all work carried out is logged. Maintain good communications between shifts using the shift handover to give a detailed report, or a written report if required.
Participate and embrace company safety initiatives including Operation Clean Sweep, Global Safety Day & Global care Day.
Must work in compliance with the requirements of the site management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001).

You Bring This Value

Education

Electrical or Mechanical Apprenticeship (time served)
NVQ level 3 Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (HNC or above desirable)

Work Experience

Experience in similar plant and equipment with minimum 5 years’ experience
Substantial Electrical and Mechanical fitting skills and experience. Installation experience & 18th Edition would be desirable.
Working in a similar automated environment within the extrusion & compounding sector would be desirable but not essential.
PC Skills and computer literate (Microsoft office & SAP).
Ability to communicate effectively at various levels within the organisation.
Good understanding of Health and Safety requirements within a manufacturing environment including risk assessments, PTW & contractor management.
Able to assess and manage complex maintenance problems under time pressure.
Can time manage & prioritise workloads.

Skills

Communication – this role has contact with all levels of personnel within the Warrington site and vendor personnel relating to maintenance companies
Problem Solving – to provide technical advice in troubleshooting and problem solving for the Warrington site
Fault Finding - Be able to read circuit diagrams and perform basic fault finding using PLC’s, Inverters & DC drives.

What We Offer

We offer an attractive compensation package with a competitive starting salary, dependant on skills & experience. We also offer participation in the Company’s discretionary short-term incentive (bonus) programme. Currently, the full-year target bonus for this position is 6% of base salary. Salary range dependant upon experience £33,040 - £45,430.

The holiday entitlement is 17 days/annum plus bank holidays.

We offer membership of the Company Defined Contribution Salary Sacrifice Pension scheme with employer contributions of up to 10% matching double employee contributions.

We also offer Group Life & Income Protection insurances, a Health Cash Plan and a Cycle to Work Scheme.

Working hours are 12 hour day & night shifts over a 3-week 12-hour shift rotation & does not include weekend working. The role attracts a pensionable shift allowance of £4,934/annum.
