Job summary

ETS Consulting Ltd in Alfreton, UK, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join a leading chemicals manufacturer. The role is Monday to Friday, days based with flexible hours, focusing on planned and reactive maintenance of production machinery and systems.

The ideal candidate is apprentice-trained with strong electrical and mechanical skills, experience with preventative maintenance systems and fault diagnosis, and the ability to read engineering drawings.

Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance engineering role within manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance in accordance with maintenance schedules.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and carry out effective fault diagnosis and repairs.
• Maintain production machinery, mechanical systems, electrical systems, utilities, and site infrastructure.
• Install, commission, and test new equipment and machinery.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
• Complete maintenance records, job sheets.
• Liaise with production teams to minimise operational disruption during maintenance activities.
• Support contractors working on site and ensure work is completed safely and to the required standard.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
• Assist with root cause analysis of recurring equipment failures.
• Maintain appropriate stock levels of spare parts and report shortages.
• Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained within workshops and plant areas.
• Participate in risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work systems.

Skills and Experience

• Experience in a maintenance engineering role within manufacturing, industrial, facilities, or commercial environments.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Ability to operate workshop equipment.
• Experience working with preventative maintenance systems.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
