Job summary

Ata Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer in Barnsley for a UK-based manufacturing client. The role offers a £49,471 annual salary and a Panama shift pattern, delivering substantial time off across the year while covering days and nights.

You will keep specialist equipment running safely and efficiently. You should be a mechanically or electrically biased engineer with multi-skilled maintenance experience in manufacturing, plus strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

• A maintenance engineer who is either mechanically or electrically biased.
• Level 3 engineering qualification or equivalent is preferred.
• Multi-skilled maintenance experience within manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• If mechanically biased, ability to carry out electrical maintenance tasks safely.
• Logical, methodical approach to fault finding and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
• Fault finding and diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues.
• Maintaining specialist injection moulding and plastic extrusion machinery.
• Responding to breakdowns and minimising production downtime.
• Working safely on electrical control panels and associated equipment.
• Identifying opportunities to improve machinery reliability and performance.
• Thinking creatively and using a 'fix it properly' approach to fault finding.

About the role

Working as part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for keeping specialist manufacturing equipment running safely and efficiently.

About you

We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer who is either mechanically or electrically biased.

You will ideally have:

• A recognised Level 3 engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Multi-skilled maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• If mechanically biased, the ability to work safely within a control panel and carry out electrical maintenance tasks independently.
• A logical, methodical and out-of-the-box approach to fault finding.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Experience within a particular manufacturing industry isn't essential. Engineers from a wide range of factory and manufacturing backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
