Job description

We are looking for a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Fine Tubes. The successful candidate will be responsible for preventative maintenance as well as responding to emergency machine breakdowns throughout the plant. They will focus on improving machine reliability, installing and moving existing machines, overhauling and repairing machines and equipment, and ensuring on-site machines and equipment are safe, efficient, and fit for purpose.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Adhering to company rules, health and safety, and environmental standards and practices.
  2. Carrying out preventative planned maintenance to ensure assets are safe and reliable.
  3. Fault finding on all assets, identifying, and repairing machine breakdowns.
  4. Supporting corrective actions on asset/process limitations.
  5. Working with and installing single-phase and three-phase electrical circuits.
  6. Attending training and continuous development opportunities.
  7. Improving reliability and cost-effectiveness of assets.
  8. Contributing to company objectives and values.
Essential Requirements:
  1. Proven record of promoting safe working practices.
  2. Experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing environment, ideally with a mechanical bias.
  3. Basic knowledge of PLC control systems.
  4. Ability to undertake shift work, overtime, and call outs.
  5. Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing techniques.
  6. Proficiency in IT software such as Microsoft Office.
  7. Ability to wear PPE including hearing protection, gloves, hard hat, safety shoes, and glasses.
  8. Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests and medical examinations.
Essential Personal Qualities:

  3. Enthusiastic, self-motivated, proactive, and driven.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills.
Desirable Requirements:
  1. Multi-skilled engineering experience.
  2. Qualified in IEE Regulations (18th edition).
Job Details:

Core work hours are Monday to Friday, 7 am - 3 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, totaling 37.5 hours per week. The shift pattern includes:

  • 10 weeks of back shifts (1 in 5), 3 pm - 11 pm.
  • 5 weeks of night shifts (1 in 10), 11 pm - 7 am.
  • 10 weekends, Saturday and Sunday, 7 am - 3 pm.

Additional requirements include working on bank holidays falling before or after your duty weekends, with days off in lieu. Volunteering for standby and on-call duties over weekends is also possible with additional pay.
