We are seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to join a busy manufacturing site. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, fault-finding and improving a wide range of production, process and site services equipment, with a strong focus on electrical diagnostics, plant reliability and safe working practices. This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer with excellent electrical fault-finding capability, good mechanical knowledge and experience working in a regulated manufacturing or process environment.
Your new role
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and breakdown repairs across production machinery, process plant and associated site services.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical faults on motors, drives, control panels, sensors, relays, contactors, instrumentation and automated equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs and technical documentation to support effective fault-finding and repair.
- Work safely on electrical systems, including isolation, testing, reinstatement and verification in line with site procedures and relevant regulations.
- Provide mechanical support where required, including work on pumps, valves, gearboxes, conveyors, pipework, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Support continuous process improvement by identifying recurring faults, completing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to reduce downtime.
- Maintain equipment reliability, availability and performance across production, blending, filling, packaging or process areas.
- Complete maintenance records, permits, risk assessments and handover notes accurately using the site CMMS or engineering reporting systems.
- Assist with installation, commissioning and modification of machinery, electrical equipment and site infrastructure.
- Work closely with production, quality, safety and engineering teams to ensure maintenance work is completed with minimal disruption to operations.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Electrical Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing, process, FMCG or industrial environment.
- Strong electrical fault-finding experience, particularly on three-phase systems, control circuits, motor starters, variable speed drives, sensors, instrumentation and automated machinery.
- Good mechanical maintenance knowledge, with the ability to diagnose and repair common mechanical faults.
- Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment, with the ability to fault-find using PLC inputs and outputs; experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley or similar systems would be advantageous.
- Ability to work from electrical schematics, technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance systems and experience using a CMMS.
