Job Title: Continental Shift Engineer
Salary: £49,400
Shift Pattern: 2 Days/2 Nights 12 Hours
Location: Manchester
Job Purpose
As a member of the multi skilled engineers' team, you will be able to ensure that a proactive response to maintenance and breakdowns are available within a 24/7 environment. You will be supporting the operations team to achieve compliance to the production plan by minimising engineering downtime, increasing availability, performance and efficiency of the existing assets through continuous improvement techniques.
Providing effective and efficient timely responses to plant breakdowns and ensuring planned maintenance is completed on time and as per the PPM site requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first line maintenance support to the manufacturing departments
- Ensure all work conforms to statutory & safety requirements
- Carry out duties ensuring the site achieves and maintains required GMP standards
- Provide 24 hour/7-day cover to production department
- Attend machinery breakdowns & ensure that all measures taken are recorded on CMMS (Shire)
- Carry out planned/scheduled maintenance tasks & record work done or required on CMMS (Shire)
- Liaise with OEM's, suppliers, contractors & issue permits
- Assist with machinery installation and decommissioning
- Diagnose machine breakdowns and act accordingly
- Carry out routine equipment safety and maintenance inspections
Fault Finding
- Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems and determine how to correct them, checking engineering drawings, equipment manuals and parts catalogues as necessary. Can fault find using engineering computer systems.
Continuous Improvement
- Line monitoring to improve efficiency
- Contribute to and help implement continuous improvement, to enhance quality, safety, efficiency and waste reduction.
Production Awareness
- Ensure that plant and equipment perform to manufacture product efficiently to high quality standards.

Skills and Experience Required
Essential:
- Time served engineering apprentice trained (Minimum Level 3)
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral
- Be confident in communicating to senior members of the team
- Strong organisational skills
- Familiar and experience of CMMS
