Job description

Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £47,957 + Benefits

Location: Manchester

Shift Pattern: Continental Days (4 Days On / 4 Days Off)

Gap Technical is proud to represent a market-leading manufacturing business in their search for a Multi-Skilled Engineer Electrically Biased to join their team at a state-of-the-art facility near Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure efficient production line performance through proactive maintenance and rapid fault rectification.
  2. Conduct and oversee accurate and efficient machine changeovers.
  3. Provide on-the-job training for production team members to enhance operational competence.
  4. Continuously improve machinery performance by analyzing downtime causes and implementing engineering solutions.
  5. Facilitate effective shift handovers by coordinating with production technicians.
  6. Maintain a safe and effective operation of all machinery, reporting failures to the Engineering Shift Manager.
  7. Collaborate with the engineering team to maximize production performance.
  8. Support and recommend continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and performance.
  9. Maintain accurate documentation in line with ISO 9001:2000 standards.
  10. Uphold high standards of safety and hygiene, ensuring compliance with HSE, EHO, and HMCE regulations.
What We're Looking For:
  1. Strong ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults on FMCG equipment.
  2. High level of discipline in maintaining hygiene standards and operating factory equipment safely.
  3. Basic PC/IT skills to support manufacturing performance enhancements.
  4. Recognized apprenticeship or relevant training in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
  5. Experience within the FMCG industry, preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  6. Proven track record of teamwork and leadership within a continuous improvement setting.
  7. Familiarity with modern manufacturing techniques and best practices.
