Overview

Astute's Power team is partnered with a leading energy company to recruit for a Maintenance Engineer / Team Leader to join their Energy from Waste Power Station in Staffordshire.

You will play a lead role in supporting the Maintenance Manager in their responsibilities for the maintenance of the EFW plant in organising and managing the site\'s maintenance function (mechanical, electrical and C&I) to ensure maximum plant availability as well as assisting in planning outages.

The role offers a salary of £57,497 + £400 per month car allowance + up to 15% bonus + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties
  • Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for day to day management and supervision of all maintenance related activities on site. This includes planning of work and coordination of the maintenance department to ensure maximum plant availability.
  • Log maintenance information and data using the site CMMS.
  • Propose, plan and budget for plant modifications and improvements.
  • Supervise and record the maintenance team\'s daily workload ensuring suitable cover for holidays etc.
  • Developing method statements and risk assessments for carrying out maintenance tasks.
  • Manage and control maintenance sub-contractors.
  • Ensuring all activities are carried out to the highest standard of health and safety.
  • Carry out and record staff reviews including probationary, disciplinary, grievance procedures and performance & development reviews.
Professional qualifications
  • Ideally apprentice trained to HNC level (not a necessity, but would be advantageous).
  • A formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH will be desirable.
Personal skills, experience and knowledge
  • The Maintenance Engineer role would suit someone who has experience in a supervisory or team leader capacity on a heavy process facility e.g. power station, steel works, chemical plant, paper mill, refinery, waste management site etc.
  • A solid understanding of a range of electromechanical plant including LV/HV equipment, motors, variable speed drives, conveyors, cranes and boiler and steam plant.
  • A good knowledge of H&S legislation and safe working systems who can lead, manage, direct, coach and motivate the maintenance team.
  • This role will also be suitable for Royal Navy Marine Engineers who are LET level and above.
  • Knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Experience working with Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
  • Understanding of Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR).
