Maintenance Engineer

Outsource UK is recruiting on behalf of a respected textiles manufacturer in Sudbury, Suffolk, for an experienced and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join their technical team.

The Role: As a Maintenance Engineer you'll play a vital role in the mechanical maintenance of weaving machinery – including rapier dobby and jacquard looms – to ensure optimal machine performance, minimal downtime, and product quality. This is a hands-on, varied role requiring both preventative and reactive maintenance in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out maintenance on powered weaving equipment to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • React promptly to technical issues reported by Weavers to minimise machine downtime.
  • Support ongoing machine performance improvements aligned with KPIs in quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Log all maintenance work for traceability.
  • Perform bench repairs and contribute to continuous improvement projects.
  • Work collaboratively with the Engineering Manager, Senior Technician, and Weaving Team.
  • Contribute to monthly engineering meetings and risk assessments.
About You: Required:
  • Solid mechanical background and confident with hand tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an inquisitive, methodical approach.
  • Ability to manage workload independently and follow technical instruction.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear shift handovers and team collaboration.
  • Comfortable working at height and in a physically demanding role.
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours/shifts as required.
  • Basic computer literacy.
