Job description

Overview

Maintenance Engineer – Crewe – £30.15 per hour (PAYE). Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off (Days/Nights).

gap technical is proud to represent an industry-leading business in their search for a Contract Maintenance Engineer to join their team.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast and effective maintenance support by responding to equipment breakdowns.
• Carry out planned/scheduled maintenance and proactively tackle recurring machine faults.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues efficiently using machine history and documentation.
• Work collaboratively with production/operations teams to ensure smooth manufacturing flow.
• Maintain and repair machinery to a high standard, ensuring maximum uptime.
• Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce engineering downtime.

Candidate Requirements

• Ideally a time-served engineering apprenticeship.
• 17th Edition Wiring Regulations (minimum).
• Experience within Food, FMCG, or Automated Storage industries (advantageous but not essential).
• Strong communication, planning, and organisational skills.
• Knowledge of mechanical drive systems and pneumatics (highly desirable).
