Job description

Maintenance Engineer (Nightshift)

The Maintenance Engineer will support the running of the factory by resolving breakdowns and by delivering planned maintenance. They will be required to drive improvement across the site in terms of new machinery, hygiene, quality, and performance.

They will be responsible for reactive and proactive maintenance work, whilst making sure it is carried out to the highest possible standards across the whole of the site and will be expected to carry out all maintenance, repair and installation across the factory.

Rate of pay - £28.00 per hour + Enhanced rates for overtime. Shifts - Nightshift (39 hrs Monday - Thursday 7:45pm -5:45am)

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Electrical & Mechanical maintenance across the whole site
  • Support engineering department delivery timely close out of PPM schedule
  • Attend to breakdowns onsite ensuring that there is always a rapid response and that equipment and machinery breakdown time is minimised
  • Looking for opportunities to continuously improve machine performance
  • Deliver effective communications within department
  • Ensure safety measures are utilised where applicable
  • Ensure lock out tag out methodology is put in to practise where applicable
  • Ensure all equipment/building/machinery defects are reported accordingly
Authorities, Interface, Reporting and Supervision
  • Line report to the Maintenance Manager
  • Liaise with the Manufacturing Manager and the Operations Manager
  • Interface with Supervisor / Chargehands & QHSE Manager
Health, Safety & Environment
  • Be responsible for own health and safety
  • Be aware and comply with Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures
  • Take reasonable care of personal health and safety and other persons who may be affected by activities carried out
  • Cooperate with the management team in assisting them to maintain safety and implement controls
  • Not to deliberately interfere with or misuse anything provided to maintain safety and to comply with legislation
  • Wear issued PPE
  • Reports accidents and incidents to the QHSE Manager
  • Work in a safe and responsible manner
  • Comply with the waste management and emergency procedures
  • Participate in risk assessments and comply with controls specified in the risk assessment
