Job description

Maintenance Engineer

Location: Byfleet

Salary: £30-40k

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8-5 and a 4pm finish on Friday

Are you a Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias and a proactive mindset? We're looking for a hands-on professional to support and maintain equipment, machines, and jigs across production in a clean, modern environment.

The Maintenance Engineer Role

To provide preventative maintenance of equipment, machines, jigs, and fixtures across Production and Warehouse areas. Ensure health & safety concerns are prioritised, and equipment availability is maximised. Support process diagnostics and development trials to identify risks to product integrity and opportunities for efficiency gains.

Key Responsibilities of Maintenance Engineer

  • Maintain a log of machine service interventions and planned maintenance, including inspection schedules.
  • Perform machine servicing and repairs in accordance with preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain a log of spares sourcing and usage, ensuring minimum stock levels of consumables and high-usage parts.
  • Respond promptly to unplanned equipment failures.
  • Support new product production trials and provide feedback on issues to resolve before launch.
  • Manage external contractors to ensure servicing and repairs are completed on time and meet statutory certification requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate setting changes around production demand to ensure minimal disruption.

Experience & Qualifications of Maintenance Engineer

  • Industrial electrical maintenance and PLC fault finding.
  • Pneumatic and electro-pneumatic systems maintenance and fault diagnosis.
  • Use of machine shop practices, including drills and lathes.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
