Maintenance Engineer

Full time, shift work (24/6, 12h shifts)

Bristol (site-based role)

We have a new interesting opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer/Service Technician to join our team in Bristol.

In this role, you will perform electrical/mechanical diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on manufacturing assets and associated production equipment in production or assembly and test facilities. You will also support the Manufacturing Services Leader and Engineer to ensure objectives are delivered.

You will work at either the Machine shop or the Foundry, which are at the leading edge of manufacturing, producing Equiax and Single Crystal Nozzle Guide Vanes for Rolls-Royce Civil and Defence products.

What you will be doing:

You will be responsible for diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of manufacturing assets such as CNC machines and related equipment. Your tasks include:

  • Carrying out routine, reactive, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance tasks across a broad range of manufacturing assets and equipment.
  • Ensuring manufacturing equipment is safe, available, and capable for use.
  • Reading and interpreting machinery and component drawings, circuit/logic diagrams, schematics, manuals, and parts catalogues.
  • Identifying and recommending improvements to production equipment and maintenance procedures, researching, and implementing these improvements.
  • Coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities with production staff, maintaining communication with leaders and operators.
  • Supporting induction and cross-training of team members.

  • Have a time-served advanced engineering apprenticeship with NVQ level 3 or equivalent (please attach a photocopy of your apprenticeship completion certificate with your CV).
  • Have experience in preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and inspection on production equipment such as machine tools, vacuum furnaces, and chemical process lines.
  • Are willing to undertake projects and continuous improvement activities.
  • Have an understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles and operations.
  • Possess basic IT literacy.
  • Understand health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Can work both independently and as part of a team, with good communication skills.
