Job description

Randstad are seeking a dedicated and proactive Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our clients' team, responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and longevity of critical building services across our clients commercial unit. This is an excellent opportunity to apply a broad range of technical skills in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Execute scheduled maintenance tasks on a wide array of building systems, ensuring adherence to schedules and industry best practices.
  • Reactive Maintenance & Fault Finding: Respond promptly to breakdowns and system failures, accurately diagnose issues, and carry out effective repairs to minimise downtime and disruption.
  • Electrical Systems: Perform maintenance, fault finding, testing, and minor installation/repair work on electrical infrastructure, including lighting, power circuits, distribution boards, emergency lighting, and control systems.
  • Mechanical Systems: Maintain and service mechanical plant such as HVAC systems (AHUs, FCUs, VRV/VRF), pumps, motors, pipework, and heating/cooling equipment.
  • Plumbing & Water Systems: Address plumbing issues, including leaks, blockages, tap/toilet/sanitary ware repairs, and perform water system checks and maintenance (e.g., Legionella control measures where applicable).
  • Building Fabric Maintenance: Undertake general fabric repairs and upkeep, including basic carpentry, plastering, painting, tiling, flooring, and door/window adjustments to maintain property aesthetics and integrity.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all work is carried out in strict accordance with relevant health and safety regulations, statutory requirements, and company policies. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and material usage.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise effectively with clients, tenants, site managers, and sub-contractors, providing clear communication on maintenance progress and resolutions.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in an on-call rota (if applicable - to be specified) to address out-of-hours emergencies promptly.

About You:

  • Relevant Qualifications: Hold recognised qualifications in at least one core discipline (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical,HVAC), with demonstrablemulti-skilled experience.
    • Desirable Electrical Qualifications: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent.
    • Desirable HVAC Qualifications: F-Gas Certification.
  • Proven Experience: Significant hands-on experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer in a commercial, residential, or critical environment within London.
  • Fault-Finding Excellence: Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities across electrical, mechanical, and building fabric issues.
  • Safety Conscious: A thorough understanding and commitment to health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Proactive & Organized: Ability to manage a diverse workload, prioritize tasks, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
