Working at one of the largest quarries in the UK, the Shift Maintenance Electrician is responsible for ensuring that electrical systems and equipment are functioning properly. Their job involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing electrical components to prevent downtime and ensure a safe, reliable plant. They may also be involved in installing new electrical systems and troubleshooting electrical issues as they arise.

- Hours: 42.5 hours - 4 on 4 off shifts (0600-0600/1000-2200 Mon-Fri & 0600-1800 Sat/Sun)
Mission and role of the function
- Start-up & shut-down routines and maximising throughput within the capacity of the plant.
- Maintenance and repair of fixed plant within your competence, keeping accurate records as per management requirements, and undertaking maintenance works to static plant and site assets as required by the manufacturer and Heidelberg Materials.
- Carrying out planned maintenance and inspection duties, maintaining accurate records, and supporting installation of electrical assets and systems.
- Operating, inspecting, and maintaining processing equipment to meet productivity targets and KPIs.
- Carrying out cleaning, housekeeping, and other 5S-related duties as required.
- Operating machines and tools safely, following regulations and manufacturer guidance.
- Performing duties at other Heidelberg Materials sites within reasonable travel distance, with transport or travel allowances if applicable.
- Training and supervising Apprentice Maintenance Technicians.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain and repair static plant safely and efficiently.
- Keep static plant in good order, perform inspections, repairs, and lubrication as recommended.
- Use site CMMS to record work activities and conditions.
- Maintain up-to-date maintenance records.
- Use Maintenance Software responsibly.
- Report problems or defects to your line manager or supervisor.
- Complete risk assessments covering health, safety, and environmental risks.
- Report near-misses as required.
- Operate plant and machinery energy-efficiently.
- Maintain good timekeeping and comply with IMS procedures.
- Liaise with supervisors on technical and safety issues.
- Assist in implementing and commissioning capital projects.
LV/HV Installations
- Implement electrical maintenance strategies, perform PPM checks, and update the CMMS.
- Support development and expansion of the CMMS.
- Work with HV & LV systems, including switchgear, panelboards, MCCs, and DBs.
- Maintain and troubleshoot LV & HV electrical motors and starters.
- Understand motor alignment, vibration, and temperature relevance for condition-based maintenance.
Instrumentation Systems
- Knowledge of process instrumentation and calibration of various sensors and analyzers.
- Understanding of pressure, temperature, flow, and PID controllers.
Control and Safety Systems
- Work with safety-critical control systems and interlocks.
- Basic skills in PLC automation, digital and analogue I/O, industrial Ethernet, bus systems, SCADA, and PLC programming.
- Assist in troubleshooting and fault finding in PLC systems.
