Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and fully qualified Maintenance Electrician to join the in-house technical team at a prestigious, large commercial building in West London. This is a static, days-only role that requires an experienced professional who is committed to the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.

You will be the electrical specialist on site, responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of a complex and modern building infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • PPM and Reactive Maintenance: Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and rapid reactive fault-finding across all site electrical systems.
  • Power Distribution: Maintain and troubleshoot Low Voltage (LV) distribution equipment, switchgear, circuit protection, and power factor correction units.
  • Lighting Systems: Conduct maintenance and repair on general lighting, intelligent lighting control systems, and emergency lighting, ensuring full compliance with fire safety regulations.
  • Critical Systems: Carry out routine checks and maintenance on UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems and standby generators (working alongside specialist contractors).
  • Compliance & Testing: Ensure all electrical work strictly adheres to the latest 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671). Assist with or perform Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) where qualified.
  • Fire & Safety: Conduct periodic testing of fire alarm systems and associated panels, logging all results accurately.
  • Multiskilled Support: Provide support to the wider maintenance team by assisting with basic mechanical checks (e.g., fault finding on motor starters, isolation checks) and minor fabric tasks as required.
  • Documentation: Maintain meticulous and up-to-date records of all work completed, time spent, and materials used within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Qualifications:
    • Formal qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) in Electrical Installation/Engineering.
    • City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) is essential.
    • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Electrician, preferably within a large commercial or corporate environment.
  • Skills: Exceptional fault-finding and diagnostic skills across complex electrical infrastructure.
  • Professionalism: Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with tenants, management, and subcontractors.
