Job description



Base Location - New Forest, Yeovil, Poole, Salisbury, Swindon, Melksham, Andover or Oxford.

Salary: £58,630 – £68,098 + car/cash allowance and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

As a Maintenance Delivery Manager, you'll head up the maintenance program for substation assets (LV to 33kV), playing a vital role in ensuring safe and efficient power delivery across the SEPD region.

Reporting to the Level 3 leadership of our M&I business unit, you'll oversee a team of skilled professionals and support their growth, while making a real difference to communities and customers.

This is more than just a technical leadership role – it's an opportunity to foster a high-performing, inclusive team culture where safety, wellbeing, and development are prioritised. You’ll help shape and deliver multi-million-pound programs that support the long-term health and performance of our network.

You will:
  • Manage all voltage system projects across two regional areas, ensuring safe and efficient delivery within time and budget constraints.
  • Plan and oversee substation maintenance and inspections for equipment up to 33kV.
  • Support and empower your team, helping them thrive through coaching, guidance, and collaborative leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement, challenging existing processes to enhance the way we work.
  • Manage system data, financial responsibilities, approve timesheets, and foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders for business success.
  • Champion a culture of safety, ensuring that every decision reflects SSE’s commitment to protecting people and the environment.

You have:
  • Strong technical experience with electrical networks up to 33kV, and an understanding of ESQCR regulations and SSE’s asset health framework.
  • A people-first leadership style, with proven experience leading diverse teams through change and delivering results on high-output projects.
  • Confidence using data and digital tools (Maximo, Chime, Electric Office, Excel, Power BI, Power On) to inform decisions and report progress.
  • Passion for health, safety, and wellbeing, aligned with SSE’s ‘Safety Family’ values.
  • (Bonus) Network authorisations up to 33kV SAP/SFT.
