Maintenance Craftsperson - Electrician

The closing date is 21 August 2025

To maintain all electrical engineering services and equipment within the Trust's Establishments. Undertake planned and reactive maintenance, small improvement work and minor Capital schemes as directed.

Support a multi-disciplined workforce and resource undertaking work associated with all engineering plant, building fabric and equipment to the estate within the Trust's Establishments.

Follow departmental and Trusts operating policies and procedures guided by building and H & S regulations when undertaking this role and works closely with the Estates supervisor, but capable of working independently without regular supervision.

Please be aware that this role is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants should be aware of the requirement to independently obtain ongoing right to work in the UK beyond the expiry of any temporary or time-limited permissions. Evidence of this will need to be shared with the HR Team to ensure our records remain up to date.

Main duties of the job
  • To undertake planned and reactive maintenance, small improvement work and minor Capital schemes as directed.
  • To be responsible for tools, plant and materials which are used within the scope of the Estates Department.
  • To ensure that safety procedures are observed in the use of Plant Equipment, Materials, working procedures and ensure that a safe working environment is always maintained in accordance with Health & Safety regulations.
  • To assist with the training of new staff as directed.
  • To work outside his/her trade in the event of any emergency or as directed by the Estates Officer/Head of Estates/On Call Manager.
  • To assist with the ordering of materials for all types of maintenance work.
  • Respond to instruction given via the Estates maintenance reporting system to investigate faults and failures. Complete any paperwork required to record time and materials used. Feedback to Estates supervision on any further action required for the work to be fully completed.
  • To take part in any emergency on-call rota.
  • To be able to drive and hold a clean current driving licence.
  • Any other duties as delegated by the Estates Officer/Head of Estates relevant to the post/department.
  • To participate in appropriate training as required by this position and determined by the Estates Management Staff.

Person Specification
Education Qualifications and Training
  • Apprenticeship time served- as a maintenance electrician.
  • City and Guilds & NVQ (or equivalent trade certificate.
  • 18th Edition Regulations
Experience
  • Recent and significant post qualification experience, preferably within a healthcare environment.
  • Experience of working in a team
  • Experience of working in appropriate electrical engineering role.
  • Fault finding and problem resolving.
  • Competent person in an relevant HTM discipline.
  • Additional relevant trade experience.
Knowledge Skills and abilities
  • Electrical installation and maintenance skills
  • Experienced on working on large electrical systems and complex associated equipment.
  • Experience of working on large motor/generator installations and associated switchgear.
  • Familiarity with other specialist electrical systems often found in a healthcare environment.
  • Observation and awareness skills when carrying out routine periodic tasks regarding noncompliance.
  • Familiarity with the current Edition Electrical Regulations
  • Capable of fault finding with the aid of circuit diagrams.
  • Ability to reliably work on own initiative
  • IT literate, including various types of software and network variants.
