Job Overview

The Estates Department provides a comprehensive maintenance, repair and installation service of the buildings, grounds, engineering services and associated equipment throughout the Trust.

You must have served a recognised Mechanical or Building Services apprenticeship and gained a wide experience in building engineering services and plant maintenance with a BTEC HNC level or City and Guilds plus relevant post apprenticeship training or equivalent experience.

You must hold a current UK (manual) driving licence and reside within half an hour normal travel time to fulfil on-call duties.

The role is Monday Friday with participation in an emergency on-call rota plus opportunities for overtime and weekend working. Please see attached shift pattern

Salary - £29,970 - 36,483 pa plus local RRP (£3,277 pa), with an approximate £1,000 pa on-call retainer, overtime, 27 days holiday & voluntary pension scheme.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • HNC in Building services plus specialist training and experience to graduate level, or equivalent gained through a relevant apprenticeship plus additional specialist knowledge and experience gained through specialist training, short courses and C.P.D.
  • Authorised/Responsible and/or Competent Person in one or more of the following specialisms:- LV Electrical Systems HV Electrical Systems Heating and Ventilation Systems Decontamination Safe Water Systems Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS) Confined Spaces

Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of the mechanical and/or plumbing systems in NHS premises.
  • In depth knowledge of all relevant legislation and technical guidance.
  • In depth knowledge of all relevant Health Technical Memorandums
  • Significant experience working in a complex engineering/building environment.

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of electrical systems in NHS premises.

Technical Skills Competencies

  • Skilled in maintenance, fault finding, test & repair work on a very wide range of complex engineering services & equipment, with the ability to work unassisted in varying, often technical environments whilst complying with Health & Safety/ environmental regulations and standards.

Other Requirements Specific To The Role

  • Participate in outside of normal hours on-call rota.
  • Full U.K driving licence.

Language requirement.

  • Able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role
