About the role

Working with our Team of Maintenance Controllers you will coordinate the safety inspections, defects and breakdowns for our fleet of trailers throughout the UK.

Shifts: Monday to Friday 07:00 16:30 or 08:30 18:00.

Working 1 in 9 Saturdays (08:00- 12:00)

What you will be doing:

You will be responsible for controlling on-site defects, roadside breakdowns and ensuring all vehicles remain compliant in-line with customers operators licenses maintenance schedules, through our own workshops and our approved nationwide vendor partners.

  • Liaise with our key customers and seek and agree approval for any damage repairs which have been identified.
  • Update customers & department where required throughout repair process.
  • Resolve any invoice queries for both customers and suppliers in a timely manner
  • Support incoming calls for defect situations decide upon best repair actions and put into action with the most suitable suppliers.

Maintenance Control

  • Review tasks to ensure best repair methods are selected and costs are managed and agreed prior to work being completed.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including MOTs and DVSA standards
  • Monitor and analyse maintenance KPIs to support continuous improvement
  • Book in all internal work & manage VOR costs and downtime in Workshops
  • Agree parts and labour costs with vendors in accordance to SLAs
  • Arrange all internal tyres including recuts where required to prolong tyre life
  • Assist with breakdown & tyre calls where required

Cost Control

  • To ensure correct selection of repair agent is selected
  • Coordinate maintenance events to ensure they are scheduled together if vehicle becomes VOR liaising with compliance planners to ensure VOR time is minimised.
  • Review all costs to ensure parts and labour costs are correct.
  • Liaise with Manufacturers and suppliers to ensure warranty claims are maximised to prevent unnecessary downtime and costs.

What you will need:

  • Proven experience in a similar fleet or vehicle service/maintenance role
  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance standards and regulations
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and juggle multiple priorities
  • Effective communicator with a proactive, team-focused attitude
  • In addition, previous mechanical experience in a similar role would be a distinct advantage.
