Maintenance Assistant – temporary 12 weeks Technical 2C Publish date: 22 July 2025 Closing date: 29 July 2025 Salary: £27,803-£29,777 per annum (pro-rata) Hours: 37 hours per week Overview

The Facilities Management section of West Midlands Fire Service are seeking a dynamic Maintenance Assistant to join their team for a 12-week temporary opportunity. Under the general direction of the Senior Maintenance assistant, the successful applicant will be required to carry out multi-trade building repair works and general building maintenance on WMFS properties across the West Midlands. Work will be varied, requiring adaptability and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities
experience applying practical trade skills to carry out multi-trade building repair work at WMFS sites
general maintenance across all WMFS sites
delivering products to staff
various housekeeping duties.

Experience and skills
experience working with ladders, steps and scaffolding
knowledge of plumbing, painting, carpentry, roofing and building work
comfortable working unsupervised for long periods of time
good topographical knowledge of the West Midlands
possess a clean driving licence, and able to drive a large van.
