Job summary

Cinnamon Care Collection is seeking a Maintenance Assistant for Merriman Grange, a Worthing-based care home. This part-time position (16hrs/week) supports the Maintenance Manager to keep the home safe and comfortable for residents.

You will perform day-to-day maintenance, assist with repairs, and help prepare rooms for new residents. Reliability, flexibility, and multi-trade capability are preferred; some weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance and basic repairs.
• Ability to work across trades in a care home setting.
• Reliable, hardworking and flexible with hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day maintenance of the home and fix faults within capability and guidelines.
• Support heads of departments and perform preventative maintenance tasks to maintain standards.
• Ensure home is kept to agreed maintenance standards and respond to requests from residents and staff.
• Take deliveries and store items pertaining to maintenance.
• Ensure that all machinery is kept safe and in working order.

The main function of this role is to support and assist the Maintenance Manager in maintaining all areas within the home on a daily basis. The Maintenance Assistant’s primary responsibility is to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the residents. This person is a hands‑on team player with sound organizational skills. The Maintenance Assistant interacts positively with all team members, maintaining census by immediately preparing vacant rooms for new residents, and by responding to and resolving concerns promptly.

You will need to reliable and hard working in this role – flexible in required working hours is essential and may include some weekend working.

Ideally experience in general maintenance, plumbing, painting and decorating and carpentry would be beneficial.

Main Responsibilities

• Assist in the day‑to‑day maintenance of the home including any faults or repairs which may need to be corrected within your capability and company guidelines.
• Give support to all heads of departments in looking at areas that may need altering or improving and perform all preventative maintenance tasks to the best of your ability.
• Ensure that the home is kept to the agreed maintenance standards.
• Respond in a timely manner to all maintenance requests and concerns raised by residents, family members and team members according to the homes reporting maintenance request log or system.
• Take receipt of deliveries and store items or good pertaining to maintenance.
• Ensure that all allocated machinery is kept safe and in working order.
