Chemring Energetics UK Ltd (CEUK) is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the site Maintenance Department. The role involves practical maintenance work across the site, with emphasis on safety, quality, and adherence to company procedures.

You will perform tasks ranging from basic plumbing to concrete repairs, while ensuring PPE is used correctly and health and safety guidelines are followed. A focus on teamwork and proactive problem-solving is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance environment with practical skills.
• Ability to use hand and power tools effectively and safely.
• Knowledge of building methods and materials is beneficial.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills for reporting and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance tasks in compliance with HSE legislation and company policies.
• Report unsafe acts or conditions using the Near Miss System.
• Ensure PPE requirements are met and site rules followed.
• Demonstrate competence through training and assessment for assigned tasks.
• Maintain housekeeping and contribute to site safety and cleanliness.
• Carry out litter picking, basic plumbing, concrete repairs and slabbing as needed.
• Assist with seasonal gritting and other site maintenance duties.

Chemring Energetics UK (CEUK) is a global business providing a range of equipment based on energetic materials for defence, civil defence and key commercial customers.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within CEUK for a Maintenance Assistant to assist the site Maintenance Department.

The Maintenance Assistant will assist the Maintenance Department in their tasks across the site.

Key Accountabilities & Duties:

• Carry out all activities in full compliance with H&SE legislation, within company policy and procedure.
• Responsible for reporting any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions observed (using the Near Miss System) in accordance with responsibilities under the Health and Safety at work Act.
• To ensure appropriate PPE requirements are met when working in each area.
• Work in accordance with all site rules and regulations.
• To ensure that all tasks are undertaken in full compliance with the operating instruction and any associated manufacturing documents
• To demonstrate competence in all tasks undertaken through successful completion of the associated training and competence assessment including an understanding of the hazards, risks and controls associated with the task being undertaken
• To report any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions observed to line management
• To maintain the appropriate levels of housekeeping for your work area.

Qualifications/ Experience:

• Experience in carrying out multitude of practical skills in maintenance environment
• Experience working with hand tools and power tools
• Knowledge of materials and building methods
• Basic numeracy skills
• Basic literacy skills
• Ability to lift and carry weights up to 20k
• Driving Licence

The Candidate:

• Must have personal commitment to Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
• Strong bias for action to identify potential problems and co-ordinate their resolution before they become an issue.
• Communication and team working skills
• Knowledge of the principles of company policy and operating procedures in order to ensure site and company compliance.
