Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Assistant

Equans, a renowned energies & services contractor and member of the Bouygues global industrial group, specializes in the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide.

We are seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our facilities team on the Greater Manchester Police maintenance contract, based at Pendleton police station, with coverage across other GMP police stations as needed. This permanent full-time role involves 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm, including participation in the on-call rota.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Report to the Maintenance Manager and undertake assigned tasks via PDA/mobile devices.
  2. Respond promptly to breakdowns, complete related paperwork accurately and efficiently.
  3. Support manual tasks such as relocations, tidying, and cleaning Estates areas and Plant rooms.
  4. Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and cleaning independently or within a team.
  5. Ensure availability of cleaning materials and chemicals at all sites.
  6. Attend necessary training for contract compliance and personal development.
  7. Participate in the on-call rota (1 in 5, including weekends).
  8. Preferably have experience in maintenance roles and PPM completion.
  9. Possess good customer care and interpersonal skills.
  10. Work effectively alone or as part of a team.
  11. Have basic fabric handyperson skills and knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
  12. Hold a full valid UK driving licence for site travel across Greater Manchester.
  13. Be able to obtain and maintain relevant vetting clearance as required by the client.
