Wycombe Abbey seeks a reliable Maintenance Assistant to support upkeep of the school estate. The role covers a range of practical tasks, room setups for events, and assisting with day-to-day operations to maintain a welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
You will report to the Deputy Estates Manager, work full-time with a probationary period, and may be required to work evenings, weekends or overtime to support school events and repairs.
Wycombe Abbey seeks a reliable Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep and maintenance of the School’s extensive estate. This varied and hands-on role is central to ensuring the smooth operation of the School, providing maintenance support across multiple departments, assisting with room setups and events, and helping to maintain a safe, efficient and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
Reports to: Deputy Estates Manager.
Contract: This is a full-time, permanent contract. The first three months will be a probationary period.
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern.
Shift A: 7.00am – 3.00pm
Shift B: 10.00am – 6.00pm
During School holidays, shifts will operate between 7.00am – 3.00pm or 8.00am – 4.00pm. Evening work, Saturday mornings and occasional Sunday work are required as part of the normal working pattern. Additional overtime may be required to support School events, urgent repairs and adverse weather conditions.
Salary: £27,544 per annum.
As Maintenance Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the School estate. Responsibilities include carrying out minor repairs and maintenance tasks, assisting with room setups, transporting furniture and equipment, supporting School events, escorting contractors, undertaking compliance checks and helping ensure that buildings and facilities are maintained to a high standard. This role would suit a proactive and adaptable individual who enjoys practical work, takes pride in delivering excellent service and is comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
