Join Farmfield Hospital in Charlwood as a Maintenance Assistant, where you will play an important role in creating and maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-presented environment for some of the most vulnerable people in society.

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the service's facilities and grounds are maintained to a high standard. This includes carrying out general maintenance tasks, regular audits to identify and repair faults, and supporting the upkeep of the hospital's gardens and outdoor spaces to ensure they remain safe, tidy, and attractive for service users, staff, and visitors.

Working alongside an established team, you will turn your hand to a variety of maintenance and gardening duties, liaising with contractors where required to support the ongoing maintenance and development of the service. Your proactive approach will help ensure the environment remains fit for purpose, safe, and welcoming for everyone who uses it.

As a Maintenance Assistant You Will Have

• Assisting with ensuring that the service, buildings, facilities and equipment requirements are maintained and fit for purpose.
• Utilising good DIY skills to ensure safety of service users is maintained.
• Assisting in regular checks and maintenance.
• Assisting in the repair and maintenance of all buildings.
• Assisting in all decorating.
• Liaising with a manager reporting all faults and defects.
• Participating in a 1 week retaining on-call rota for the purposes of emergency maintenance.
• Coordinating and supporting contractors whilst on site and completing of all paperwork and tool checks.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will

• To comply with system and procedures.
• Have previous experience within a maintenance role.
• Gardening experience (desirable)
• To work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Show courtesy and respect to residents at all times to ensure that they enjoy the highest quality of service.
• Attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings.

Where You Will Be Working

Location: Farmfield Drive, Charlwood, Surrey, RH6 0BN

You will be working at Farmfield Hospital, located next to Gatwick.

You’ll be caring for adult men 18+ who potentially have a forensic background and enduring mental health illnesses such as personality disorder, substance misuse issues and challenging behaviours.
