Job summary

Almondsbury Inn & Lounge in Bristol seeks a proactive Maintenance Assistant to keep the hotel in top condition and safe for guests. You will work with the Maintenance Manager to ensure all areas meet standards and regulations, delivering hands-on maintenance and friendly service.

This role suits someone with practical maintenance skills, strong communication and time management, able to work under own initiative and travel across hotel spaces as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in maintenance or facilities roles, preferably in hospitality.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry and painting.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a hands‑on, proactive approach.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, functional and welcoming environment across the hotel.
• Assist with routine maintenance, repairs and inspections.
• Respond promptly to issues and coordinate with the Maintenance Manager.
• Work under supervision while also taking initiative to complete tasks.

The Role of Maintenance Assistant

We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join the to keep the hotel looking its best as we continue our journey as custodians of a historic building but in 1760.

The Maintenance Assistant will work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and will be responsible for working in partnership with the wider team to ensure that our hotel is in a great condition and supports making a memorable experience for our guests.

A key aspect of the role is to support the Maintenance Manager and wider management team to ensure that the hotel is fully compliment with all legislation and is safe and secure for all our guests and team. The successful candidate will forge a great rapport with colleagues of all levels and guests that they interact with

The role of Maintenance Assistant will report to the Maintenance Manager, this is an opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about making a difference and delivering a great service in terms of maintenance but also great customer service.

This role is ideal for someone who has strong maintenance experience skills with great communication and time management who is able to work under their own initiative.

Experience & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, or facilities role, preferably in hospitality or a similar environment.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and painting.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a hands‑on, proactive approach.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
