Job summary

Kingdom Services Group in Darwen is seeking a Maintenance & General Operative to join our team. The role is outdoors, involves grounds maintenance, cleaning and keeping the site safe and presentable.

The position offers a 30-hour week with flexible hours, typically 7:00am–5:00pm or 8:00am–6:00pm, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The ideal candidate is practical, reliable and hardworking, with a full UK driving licence and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Litter picking around the site, access areas and surrounding grounds.
• Grass mowing and general grounds maintenance.
• Grass strimming around buildings, fences, walkways and other areas.
• Weeding and general upkeep of landscaped and grassed areas.
• Painting walls, railings, barriers, doors and other site areas.
• General cleaning and housekeeping around the site.
• Keeping work areas, walkways and external areas clean and free from debris.
• Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks. Basic use and maintenance of hand tools and gardening equipment.
• Cleaning and looking after tools and equipment.
• Assisting with keeping site facilities clean, tidy and well maintained.
• Reporting any damage, defects, hazards or maintenance issues.
• Helping to maintain a safe working environment for staff, visitors and site users.
• Supporting other members of the team with general duties when required.

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and practical Maintenance & General Operative to join our team at a waste transfer station in Darwen.

This is a varied, hands‑on position involving general site maintenance, grounds maintenance, cleaning and keeping the site safe, tidy and presentable.

The role would suit someone who enjoys working outdoors, is happy carrying out a variety of tasks and takes pride in keeping their working environment to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

About You

The successful candidate will ideally be:

• A full UK driving licence holder with access to their own car.

Previous experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, painting, general maintenance, facilities work or as a general operative would be beneficial, but is not essential.

Working Hours

The position is Monday, Wednesday and Friday, working a total of 30 hours per week.

Option 1: 7:00am - 5:00pm
Option 2: 8:00am - 6:00pm
