Job summary

Wood Care Group is seeking a hands-on maintenance person to keep our busy care home in top condition. You will use basic plumbing, painting and general DIY skills to repair, maintain and improve facilities, with occasional travel to our other homes in the area.

We value kind, caring people who can communicate well and work flexibly. Experience in care homes is desirable but not essential, as training and ongoing development are provided.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a Care Home environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of basic DIY skills such as plumbing, painting and decorating.
  • A committed and organised approach, to ensure that checks are completed on time.
  • A confident communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible to work shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Attend Staff Meetings.
  • Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing needs, demands of the home and participate in appropriate training and encourage and support staff in their development and training.
  • Employees need to ensure they fully understand their safeguarding responsibility, develop their understanding and skills to reduce the risk of abuse or neglect to adults who need care and support. Ensure safeguarding and whistle blowing policies are adhered to at all times.
  • Provide evidence of any untaken training.
  • Comply with fire procedures and health and safety legislation and work in a safe environment.
  • Complete all training as determined by the home.

Job description

As a maintenance person, you will work in a busy care home ensuring the standards of the home are maintained. Applicants should have experience in basic plumbing, painting, and all aspects of DIY. You may be required to travel around our other homes in the area.
