We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Solution Architect for a contract opportunity with a leading organisation. This role is ideal for a generalist with broad expertise across z/OS, CICS, DB2, IMS, and mainframe modernisation. You’ll be responsible for designing and optimising mainframe architectures, supporting cloud migrations, API integrations, and automation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance mainframe solutions
Define architecture roadmaps and ensure alignment with IT and business strategies
Lead mainframe modernisation, including cloud migration, API enablement, and DevOps adoption
Optimise z/OS, CICS, COBOL, DB2, MQ, IMS, and related technologies
Provide technical leadership in integration, automation, and performance tuning
Collaborate with enterprise architects, engineers, and key stakeholders
Required Skills & Experience:
Proven experience as a Mainframe Solution Architect in complex enterprise environments
Expertise in z/OS, CICS, DB2, IMS, COBOL, JCL, REXX, and Assembler
Experience with mainframe modernisation, cloud integration, and API development
Strong understanding of high availability, security, and disaster recovery on mainframes
Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools for mainframes
Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership across projects
