Job summary

RedRock Resourcing is seeking a Mainframe Engineer to join its Cardiff-based team. You will support major incidents across core banking, payments and job scheduling platforms, coordinate recovery activities and provide technical direction to the operations team.

You will own platform health through monitoring, automation and service reliability improvements, while managing system and database administration to meet performance and resilience targets.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of mainframe operations, ideally Unisys.
• Significant experience in IT operations, infrastructure and production support.
• Expertise in job scheduling and monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Support major incidents across core banking, payments and job scheduling platforms, providing technical direction and coordinating recovery activities.
• Act as escalation point for complex incidents and problems, providing 3rd-line support and driving resolution.
• Own platform health through monitoring, automation, tooling, job scheduling and service reliability improvements.
• Manage system and database administration to meet performance, resilience and recovery requirements.
• Design and test DR capabilities and maintain runbooks and recovery plans.
• Lead on complex changes and releases, ensuring operational readiness and robust controls.
• Promote best practice, knowledge sharing and continual improvement across operations.
• Coach and mentor colleagues to build a resilient, high-performing team.
