Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting Airport Mail Screeners for the East Midlands Air Hub. You will oversee mail intake for departures and communicate with authorities, using profiling and X-ray screening to identify threats. Excellent observation and reporting skills are essential for this role.

You must complete a DfT Level E course and a colour-vision test. Part-time 20 hours per week, nights 22:30–02:30, with permanent contracts offered.

Without logistics we simply wouldn’t be able to function. The physical transportation of mail is what we do.

About the role

You will oversee the receipt and preparation of mail for aircraft departure. You need excellent communication, numerical and writing skills for the purpose of communicating effectively with the police or other government agencies.

You’ll be expected to maintain concentration as you complete repetitive tasks. You should have excellent observation skills to interrogate mail by profiling and x‑ray screening. You will decipher and evaluate computer screen images so you can identify prohibited and threatening items, including explosives, incendiary and other devices.

You will calibrate screening machines to DfT standards and must successfully pass a DfT approved Level E course and an Ishihara colour blindness test.

Pay: £626.40 per week for full time hours, pro rata for part time hours.

Part time 20 hours per week, working 22:30 - 02:30am, 5 days Monday to Friday

PLEASE NOTE: This role requires you to work in a high security environment.
