Join a leading healthcare institution in Exeter as an Ophthalmic Macular Practitioner. This role involves interpreting OCT scans and delivering treatments for patients. You will play a vital part in patient care alongside a dedicated team, contributing to the ongoing integration of services in a supportive environment.
The post holder will autonomously interpret OCT scans and wide field imaging in virtual clinics to plan ongoing treatment regimes for patients receiving anti VEGF therapies. In addition, the Band 6 post holder will be scheduled for our consultant-led virtual medical retinal POD Clinics.

More detail about the role
The Ophthalmic Macular Practitioner role is for a registered healthcare professional, registered with a professional body as either a Nurse, Optometrist, or Orthoptist. They will have specialist skills in the sub-specialty of macular and will further develop skills in medical retina. Applicants with no previous experience in macular ophthalmology will be considered for a training position. The post holder will regularly deliver intravitreal injections of anti VEGF therapies from the main hospital site at Wonford and two other peripheral community sites on a weekly basis.
Working Pattern: 28 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8-18 (three days)

Pay: The salary reflects the Agenda for Change 2025/6 rates, inclusive of a 3.6% pay award to be implemented later this year. If you join before implementation, the pay award will be backdated to your start date. Until then, remuneration is based on the 2024/25 pay bandings (Pay scales for 2024/25 | NHS Employers).
